City of Ocean Shores & General Information
Local Hotels and Restaurants
Ocean Shores, Washington is on a small peninsula between the Pacific Ocean and Grays Harbor. It is primarily a tourist town, and has about 7000 citizens.
It was built in the 1960's to include a 26-mile freshwater canal and lake system, in addition to the 5-mile coast line along the Pacific Ocean (West) side, Grays Harbor on the East side and the inlet to Grays harbor on the south side where you can look across to the city of Westport.
To the North of Ocean Shores along Hwy 109, is a beautiful drive with additional areas to explore: Copalis Beach, Seabrook, Moclips.
The Convention Center is right in the heart of town and easy to find.
Three important stores to have on your radar:
IGA. It is our primary source of groceries in town. We are a bit isolated out here, so expect higher prices than further inland.
Ocean Sunset Pharmacy. Wonderful Drugstore and Pharmacy. Right next door to IGA.
Ace Hardware. Find just about anything you may need for small town living.
Lastly, there are events nearly every weekend of the year. The QCED Show is THE major event on the weekend of February 11-12, 2023. But if you plan to come at other times as well, check the links above for what may be happening that weekend!
There are many wonderful things to do and see in Ocean Shores.
From outdoor/nature activities:
Time on the Beach! Even when cold and windy, it is a beautiful place to walk, take in a sunset, or fly a kite! NOTE: The beach is officially a state highway. Here is a link to give you the lowdown about driving on the beach. Caution! It is easy to get stuck in the sand if you aren't careful!
Kayaking, boating (there are rentals available, or perhaps you know a resident with a boat?) along the canals and in Duck Lake or Lake Minard.
Fishing is open year-round on the canals and lakes in town. You can get a license at...you guessed it! Ace Hardware!
Birdwatching
Hiking (Check out the Weatherwax Trail right in town! It's a short hike, but what a gem!)
To Touristy things such as shopping, dining, horseback riding and bike or moped rentals.
See the links above for more information and additional ideas!
Besides Hotels and Vacation Rentals [See links above] there are a few areas in and around Ocean Shores that allow Airbnb-type rentals. Also, just outside of town is the Quinault Casino and Resort - worth checking out!
There are campgrounds and RV parks nearby, of course, as well.
Many of our Hotels are along the ocean side and can provide quite an incredible view! Additionally, SOME of the hotels have pet-friendly rooms too if you need your fur babies with you!
If dining out is on your agenda, there is a wide variety of food choices around, including many that do take-out and/or delivery, if you prefer.
Many Seafood options: Bennett's Fish Shack, Moby Dicks, Mike's Seafood, Home Port, and Rusty Anchor to name a few.
Galway Bay is a wonderful Irish restaurant and pub (and Celtic gift shop).
Thai Fusion, Lucky Dragon and Umi Sushi for an Asian flair.
Italian. The NEW La Spiaggia Ristorante, Dugan's Pizza, Red Genie Pizza and the NEW Pizza Factory
Mexican. Los IV Hermanos, and Fat Marty's Tacos (don't laugh! This little hut has some excellent selections for some of the best prices in town!)
Others to consider:
Oyhut Bay Grill (Excellent food and nice ambiance)
Ocean Beach Roasters (Excellent food, wine and coffee shop)
Our Place for a down-home diner with excellent reviews - Great breakfasts!
Tried and True - Double Barrel BBQ, Subway & McDonalds
While no Starbucks, we do have some tasty coffee shops as well.
